Theresa Okokon

Theresa joined the BDEA family in December 2014 as the Case Manager for YouthHarbors. YouthHarbors partners with BDEA to identify students who are in need of support to stabilize their housing; and provides an adult support network, individualized life skills development and housing assistance so that they can find safety in appropriate housing, graduate high school, and break the cycle of homelessness and poverty to become self-sufficient adults. Prior to working with YouthHarbors and BDEA, Theresa worked in child protective services in Wisconsin, with youth and mothers experiencing homelessness in Chicago and Boston, and as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ecuador.

Theresa holds a Bachelors in Social Work from UW-Green Bay, is an RYT-200 Yoga Teacher and a Licensed and Certified TIMBo Facilitator (Trauma Informed Mind Body, a trauma informed yoga curriculum). Theresa is the Founder of LEGIT.yoga, a budding organization with the mission of making yoga a healing, transformative and standard part of the lives of marginalized people who have experienced trauma, and her program was awarded the 2015-16 Kip Tiernan Social Justice Fellowship through Rosie's Place.  Email
