Getting Started
The admissions process at BDEA begins with completing an APPLICATION. You can pick one up at the SCHOOL, or you can apply online or download an application to mail in or drop off by visiting the APPLICATION page.
We always suggest that the best way to begin the process is to be in touch with BDEA's ADMISSIONS MANAGER. That conversation will help us begin to get to know you and will give you the information you need to feel confident moving ahead with your application. You will need to ENROLL IN BOSTON PUBLIC SCHOOLS if you are not already a BPS student, and can do so at any of the family resource centers in Roxbury, Dorchester or Hyde Park.
Applications are received on a rolling basis, year round. After you submit your application, please allow 2-4 weeks for processing. Our admissions manager will contact you to schedule an interview. The interview process allows us to get to know you better while answering questions you may have about our school. Once you complete the interview, you will be assigned to a mandatory four day orientation session. If there are no seats available for your chosen start time at the time of acceptance, you can choose to be added to the waitlist for the lottery. When necessary, BDEA will hold a lottery on the first business day of the month of the four day orientation.

BDEA, in accordance with its nondiscrimination and zero tolerance policy, does not discriminate in its programs, activities, facilities, employment or educational opportunities on the basis of race, color, age, disability, sex, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, mental or physical disability, age, ancestry, athletic performance, special need, proficiency in the English language or a foreign language, or prior academic achievement, and does not tolerate any form of discrimination, intimidation, threat, coercion, and/or harassment that insults the dignity of others by interfering with their freedom to learn.
